Collections Associate II

Overview: Our client, a well-established and growing organization, is seeking a Collections Associate to join its finance team in the Tampa Bay area. This role is ideal for a collections professional who enjoys problem-solving, account reconciliation, customer communication, and collaborating with internal teams to resolve payment issues and improve cash flow.

• Manage a portfolio of commercial accounts and review outstanding receivables.
• Contact business customers regarding past-due balances and payment arrangements.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, duplicate payments, over payments, misapplied payments, and invoicing issues.
• Reconcile customer accounts and maintain accurate collection notes and records.
• Partner with internal departments including billing, credit, operations, and leadership teams to resolve complex account issues.
• Escalate high-risk or unresolved matters when appropriate.
• Track collection activity and provide updates on account status and progress.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and assist with special projects as needed.

• 5+ years of business-to-business (B2B) collections experience.
• Strong understanding of collections practices, account reconciliation, and billing processes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
• Ability to independently research issues and drive resolutions.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in accounts receivable is preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs, are highly preferred.
• Experience resolving complex payment discrepancies and customer account issues is a plus.
