The Senior Manager, Accounting is responsible for accounting and compliance matters, including journal entries and account reconciliations, overseeing recycling processes and audits, analysis and explanation of variances, and assistance with budgets and forecasts. Responsibilities will be primarily for the Canada portion of the business unit but could also include matters related to the overall business unit. This position requires strong accounting and analytic skills.

This position works closely with other Refresco employees in accounting, operations, procurement and FP&A as well as external contacts such as auditors and recycling agencies.

• Preparation and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Liase with the Capgemini India accounting team.
• Responsible for Canada marketing, sales promotional accruals and accounting.
• Responsible for the accounting and compliance of Canada bottle deposits.
• Perform monthly/quarterly SOX controls related to fixed assets, lease accounting, promotional accruals & month-end close
• Review of new and renewing lease documents for proper accounting treatment. Maintain master lease schedule.
• Preparation of audit schedules for annual audit and quarterly reviews by Refresco’s external auditors.
• Preparation of schedules supporting Refresco’s SEC filings (10-Q and 10-K).
• Assist with preparation of SG&A budgets and quarterly balance sheet forecasts.
• Responsible for ensuring month-end accruals of unpaid goods and services are captured.
• Provide accounting support to marketing, PPG and tax teams (i.e. capital expenditures, new sales incentive programs, Canada Revenue Agency audits, other)
• Review monthly broker and royalty check requests/backup for payment.
• Support plant controllers with accounting issues (i.e. capital lease set-up, amortization of prepaid, etc.)
• Identify and implement business process improvement opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned dependent upon business needs.

• Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
• Supervision may be provided through a team of subordinate supervisors and/or managers.
• Provides training, direction and instruction and conducts performance evaluations.
• Provides guidance and training on work standards and expected outcomes.
• Accountable for planning and evaluating performance, staff training and development, recruitment and may contribute to pay recommendations.

• Experience with SAP 6.0 preferred
• Excellent accounting and analytical skills
• Proficient in Excel and Word
• Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions
• Ability to analyze and solve problems, results oriented
• Able to work under deadline pressures
• Organized and detail oriented, adaptable to change.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
• Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant designation
• 5 years relevant work experience in public accounting or industry
