The Inventory Control personnel will be responsible for organizing and optimizing physical inventory. The primary role of this position is to maintain inventory accuracy, oversee physical inventory counts, and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock. The primary goal is to optimize accurate stock inventory levels in coordination with warehouse staff.
Expectations include maintaining a clean, accurate, and organized facility and ensuring no imbalances in physical inventory levels.
The Inventory Control personnel report to headquarters management regarding up-to-date inventory valuations and daily activities, facilitating the flow of information supporting overall inventory management and coordinating with Sales, Credit, Dispatch, Operations, Finance, and Account teams. The ideal candidate is proactive and excels at problem‑solving for the company's betterment in coordination with leadership.
Required Skills and Experience- Inventory accuracy, inventory control, and physical inventory skills
- Analytical skills, with the ability to act quickly and accurately
- Inventory management skills, but not a management position; experience in inventory optimization
- Ability to maintain accurate books and records and perform physical inventory counts
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field is a must
- Experience with inventory management software and systems
- Experience in the steel industry is a plus
- 5 years of experience in general logistics is a must
- Prior metal/steel experience is a critical part of success in this role
- Strong organization and planning skills with attention to detail
- Proficient in Excel and skilled in Microsoft Office software
- Inventory control and strategic supply skills
- Demonstrable record of success and achievement in accounting, supply, distribution, and logistics
- Strong communication and networking skills
- Initiative, self‑motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to work well within a team environment
- Ability to work in a very fast‑paced environment and manage high levels of stress
- Bachelor's degree required. A master’s or advanced degree is highly recommended.
