Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

Position Concept

The Retirement Analyst will provide analytical, operational, and compliance support for the retirement benefits program inclusive of defined benefit pension and defined contribution 401k plans ensuring compliance with ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations. Supports Tampa Electric Company (TEC) and People’s Gas Company (PGS).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan Administration and Operations 40%
  • Administer and support defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including eligibility, contributions, distributions, and participant inquiries.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations with actuaries, recordkeepers and third-party administrators.
  • Compliance & Governance 25%
  • Support regulatory compliance activities, including nondiscrimination testing, audits, and required filings.
  • Ensure adherence to ERISA, IRS, and DOL requirements across all retirement plans.
  • Maintain documentation and support internal and external audits and DOL Form 5500 filing.
  • Employee Experience & Communications 25%
  • Develop/deliver communications to improve employee understanding of retirement programs.
  • Support tools and resources to aid in retirement readiness.
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement 10%
  • Lead or support retirement-related projects such as plan changes, system enhancements, vendor management initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, streamline administration, and strengthen governance.

Relationships

Key Internal: Establish working relationships with all levels of team members within the company. Provide interpretation to HR Business Partners. Work with HRIS, payroll, healthcare accounting, corporate tax, and legal departments on a frequent basis to ensure plan specifics, validation, and compliance.

Key External: Communicate with active team members, retirees and beneficiaries. Maintain relationships with service providers, actuaries, system programmers, internal/external legal counsel.

Qualifications
  • Education
    • Required:

      Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related area of study from an accredited institution.
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Preferred:
      Society of Human Resources Manager (SHRM) Certification or MS/MA/MBA is highly desirable.
  • Related Experience
    • Required:

      3 years of experience in an HR analytical role with focus on retirement plans (defined benefit and defined contributions plans). Experience working with retirement plan vendors, audits, and compliance processes. Working knowledge of retirement plan regulations (ERISA, IRS, DOL).
    • Required:

      Demonstrated ability to balance technical retirement expertise with clear, employee-focused communication. Excellent customer service orientation with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data and concepts into clear insights. Proven problem‑solving, time management, and decision‑making capabilities. High level of discretion, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
