DutiesThe USF department of Emergency Management (DEM) provides opportunities to federal work study students to work with DEM on the Tampa Campus. This opportunity is designed to enhance a student’s experience in the emergency management field through involvement with emergency management programs and networking. Daily responsibilities relate to prevention, preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery efforts at USF.
Responsibilities- Develop/Review emergency plans/policies.
- Development outreach materials for emergency management preparedness and response programs and participate in educational outreach.
- Participate in meetings with representatives from the local, state, federal, non-profit, and private sector emergency management community.
- Develop and participate in drills and exercises to practice emergency response procedures.
- Research within the field of Emergency Management.
- Other duties as assigned.
20 hours per week
ScheduleFlexible around class schedule within business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, with in-person, in-office attendance
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Applicant must be a currently enrolled USF student and have a current Federal Work Study (FWS) award for to be considered for this position. Applicants are asked to demonstrate proof of their FWS award by printing their “Award Offer” screen from Student Self-Service.

Students pursuing a career in emergency/disaster management, homeland security, criminal justice, or another related field and have strong written communication skills. This position will report to the Director of Emergency Management
Special SkillsGeneral computer and administrative skills, including detail-oriented processes. Quick learner of new computer systems.
