Position Summary
This position is accountable for directing activities of workers concerned with concrete pours in construction of buildings, parking lots, tilt-up walls, p‑i‑p walls, or other concrete structures on construction projects. The incumbent must support Orion’s guiding beliefs and core values of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, all built on Integrity.
Specific Responsibilities- Study contracts and/or placed drawings to plan construction procedures based on starting and completion times for specific phases.
- Confer with the Superintendent and assist in directing personnel executing work procedures.
- Assist in interpreting plans and specifications, coordinating phases to prevent delays.
- Confer with supervisory personnel to resolve complaints, grievances, construction problems, and improve methods.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to construction schedules.
- Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used, production hours, and adjust work schedules as indicated.
- Direct workers on maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.
- Maintain equipment and tools for long-lasting use.
- Maintain confidentiality of company proprietary or trade secret information.
- Accountable for incumbent’s personal safety.
- Accountable for safety of all co‑workers and others encountered.
- Authorized and obligated to stop work when an unsafe condition is anticipated or observed.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, subject to disciplinary action for noncompliance.
- Report violations promptly, subject to disciplinary action.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as certification training, safety training, procedural review.
A minimum of three years of experience on concrete construction projects. Ability to read and interpret construction documents is required. Experience directing others within a small work unit executing procedures is required. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Computer literate
- Fluent in English and Spanish (preferred)
- Able to work under constant change in weather and site conditions
- Able to lift, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach to perform everyday job tasks
The incumbent must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including wearing and utilizing PPE such as a hard hat, safety glasses, respirator, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other required equipment. Must be able to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management. Capable of remaining calm during emergencies and responding appropriately; must be able to evacuate the work area promptly.
