OVERVIEW:

In this role, you will conduct due diligence and condition assessments, landmark inspections, reserve studies, hurricane assessments, and physical needs assessments of existing low to high-rise buildings.

The Salary Range for this position is $95,800 - $143,600 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop pre-inspection plans.
  • Research property information.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and warranties with contract documents.
  • Versed in communicating with clients.
  • Conduct field assessments which includes riding swing stages, climbing scaffolding and ladders, and walking on sloped roofs.
  • Keeping organized records including detailed field notes and photographs.
  • Prepare written narrative and templated reports with photographs, tables, and exhibits.
  • Conduct and prepare structural milestone reports, reserve studies, condition assessments, forensic engineering reports, and post-hurricane damage assessments.
  • Prepare cost estimating.
  • Assist in the coordination of subcontractors and testing firms.
  • Review/Research and familiarity with building codes and construction standards.

REQUIRED

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Minimum 5 years of industry and housing building code experience required.
  • Proficiency in MS office products, including Word and Excel, and Blue Beam.
  • Experience in estimating is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are a must.
  • Job site and office time are split approximately 50/50.
  • Good report writing skills with the ability to develop and commit to budgets, scopes, and deadlines.
  • Must be outgoing and able to interact with staff, clients, and home/business owners.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • You must possess excellent verbal and communication skills and technical writing abilities.
  • Must have housing building code experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two-year degree in engineering, construction management, or related experience and certifications in building inspections.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE), preferred.
  • Home Inspector License / Certification is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, and TRAVEL:

  • Physical Demands -Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client’s office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports.
