Position Summary
The Estimator organizes estimating activities for specific projects related to estimating and preconstruction. The Estimator prepares accurate bids/proposals that lead to awarded contracts that are profitable and maintain the quality expected from the NRP Group. The Estimator develops and nurtures relationships with vendors and clients and works under tight time frames handling multiple bids/proposals simultaneously.
Essential Functions- Create a job‑specific preconstruction schedule.
- Set up and attend pre‑bid walk‑throughs.
- Review and analyze drawings, specifications, proposals and other documents during design stages.
- Develop bid invitations and analyze subcontractor proposals.
- Create overall project bid summaries and review them with the director of preconstruction.
- Manage general conditions and solicit vendors and subcontractors for good bid coverage.
- Create scopes of work for all subcontractors.
- Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management a plus or equivalent work experience. - Experience
: 3–5 years of relevant experience estimating construction projects; multi‑family experience preferred. - Technical Skills
:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for cost tracking; experience with On‑Screen Takeoff and Sage estimating software a plus. - Driver’s License
