Position Summary

We are seeking a CEI Senior Inspector who will ensure that the contractor’s work on a project is completed according to project design specifications and FDOT/Client quality standards, including but not limited to qualitative and quantitative aspects of construction, accurate measurement and payment of work, and proper documentation of all construction activities. The Senior Inspector manages lower‑level inspectors, performs highly complex technical assignments in field surveying, construction layout, checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.

The Senior Inspector reports field activity and progress to the Project Manager through field reports and weekly meetings.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Safe operation of company vehicle
  • Working on uneven terrain
  • Frequent use of ladders
  • Hauling equipment and materials up to 40 lbs
  • Working in inclement weather conditions
  • Working independently
  • Repetitive bending/lifting to include overhead
  • Nighttime and weekend work hours may be required
  • Working on your feet 8 hours a day
  • Overtime work may be required
  • Field measurements and calculations
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4+ years FDOT experience specific to CEI project activities (soil, concrete, steel, and bridges)
  • Understanding of FDOT construction project administration methods and processes, including training in MAC, Blue Beam, Hummingbird, and Site Manager programs
  • CTQP Certification in Asphalt, Concrete, Earthwork, pile driving and drilled shafts
Required Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identify discrepancies and conflicts, solve problems, and develop documentation
  • Ability to utilize survey equipment to verify field measurements and survey grades during construction, including GPS Rovers and Base system to provide real‑time feedback on construction services meeting project requirements
  • Ability to accomplish goals with minimal supervision and provide guidance and direction to staff inspectors
  • Ability to work as part of a team
