Position

CEI Senior Inspector/Senior Engineer Intern – West Palm Beach, FL

Immigration: Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications and standards.
  • Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project.
  • Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
  • Gather and maintain record documents.
  • Make field notes and computations.
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
Required Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of Construction Inspection Experience (CEI) in roadway or bridge construction.
  • Client requested certifications.
  • Active driver’s license.
Preferred Experience
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations.
  • Ability to act in an Owner’s Agent/Responsible in Charge role.

  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges)
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
    • Required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structure foundations.
  • FDOT Intermediate MOT
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors.
Recommended Certifications (when project scope includes concrete pavement, grinding concrete pavement, or concrete pavement slab replacement)
  • PCC Paving Inspection (TC3CN004-15-T1)
  • Diamond Grinding and Grooving (TC3MN009-15-T1)
  • Curing, Sawing and Joint Sealing (TC3CN032-16-T1)
Abilities / Responsibilities
  • Ability to:
    Communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).
  • Responsible for:
    Performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
  • Responsible for:
    Coordinating and managing lower-level inspectors.
  • Responsible for:
    Performing work under the general supervision of the Project Administrator.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. The candidate must be able to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
