Job Description
The field supervision of construction projects to include interfacing with the project owner or agent, scheduling crews and subcontractors, communicating to the Project Manager any claims and determining “as built” quantities of work performed.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSProject Superintendent directly reports to and is accountable to the Construction Manager/General Superintendent.
EDUCATIONMinimum qualifications are a high school diploma with a minimum of five years’ experience in road construction supervision.
B. LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONSPreferred:
Traffic Control Supervisor Certification
Asphalt Paving Level 1 & 2
C. Skills, Knowledge And Abilities- Leadership and negotiating skills.
- The uses of conversational, analytical and observational skills, which demonstrate an ability to organize, control and manage all areas of field operations for the road construction industry.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, methods and techniques used in road construction.
- Knowledge of possible defects and faults in work and of stages where such faults and defects are most readily ascertained.
- Ability to understand and interpret terms and specifications of contracts.
- Ability to conduct effective inspections in determining contract compliance.
- Ability to calculate figures and mathematical concepts.
- Computer Use:
Excel, Word, Viewpoint, Bluebeam
Job Responsibilities
- Understanding of plans and owner specifications
- Supervision and participation in securing compliance that contract work meets contract specifications.
- The accurate take-off of quantities and the determination of material requirements from project plans and specifications.
- The preparation of detailed resource requirements from the quantity take-offs and specifications.
- Coordination of subcontractors on jobs and maintenance of subcontractor progress.
- Preparation and submittal to owners or general contractors of 2 Week Look ahead Schedule in compliance with the project CPM schedule.
- Verification of subcontractor quantities.
- Analyzing of estimates versus as-built costs from job cost system.

The essential functions of this position include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
