Position: Superintendent (healthcare)

Just Construction is representing a well‑established General Contractor with more than 20 years of experience delivering healthcare and commercial construction projects throughout Florida.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Healthcare Construction Superintendent to lead complex projects from the field, working closely with the Project Manager from preconstruction through completion. This is a senior‑level, autonomous role for a Superintendent with strong healthcare construction experience, particularly in hospital and medical office renovations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to on‑site construction teams, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Manage daily field operations from preconstruction through project completion and turnover.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Manager to ensure project objectives, schedules, budgets, and client expectations are met.
  • Review plans, specifications, drawings, and scopes of work to ensure construction is performed correctly.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules while proactively identifying and addressing delays.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and vendors to ensure work is properly sequenced and completed on time.
  • Manage site logistics, manpower, materials, equipment, and overall field resources.
  • Maintain a safe jobsite and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety procedures.
  • Monitor quality control and ensure all work meets project specifications and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, owners, and other project stakeholders to resolve design and construction issues.
  • Identify potential problems in the field and develop practical solutions before they impact schedule or budget.
  • Track project progress and provide regular updates to Project Management and senior leadership.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with applicable building codes, regulations, and healthcare construction requirements.
  • Maintain strong communication with hospital, medical facility, and client representatives, particularly in occupied or operational environments.
  • Support project closeout, punch list completion, inspections, commissioning, and final turnover.
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Manager to maintain a high level of client satisfaction throughout the project.
Qualifications
  • 8–10+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent.
  • Proven experience managing healthcare, hospital, medical office, or other highly regulated construction projects.
  • Strong background in interior renovations and remodeling, preferably within active healthcare environments.
  • Experience managing complex projects involving multiple subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, scheduling, sequencing, and field operations.
  • Strong knowledge of safety requirements, OSHA standards, building codes, and construction best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage subcontractors and field teams.
  • Proven ability to identify problems, make decisions, and keep projects moving forward.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • AHCA experience is preferred and will be highly valued.
  • Ability to travel outside the Tampa–Sarasota area occasionally when required.
