We’re hiring seasonal Guest Services Representatives to support our front gate operations during our fall and spring seasons.

Come meet our team at Zoo Tampa’s Job Fair on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM in Saunder’s Pavilion. Hiring managers will be conducting on-the-spot interviews, and this could be your opportunity to join one of the most popular zoos in the southeastern U.S.

Position Highlights
  • Greet and assist guests at the front gate
  • Sell tickets, upsell annual memberships, and provide exceptional service
  • Answer guest inquiries in person and over the phone
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of entry areas
  • Accurately handle cash, data entry, and admissions processes

Seasonal timing:
Seasonal positions begin as early as September 15, 2025, and may continue through March 31, 2026. Be part of the team that welcomes guests to Creatures of the Night, Christmas in the Wild, and other seasonal celebrations.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for greeting and directing guests, selling admission tickets, upselling annual memberships and premium experiences at the ticket windows.
  • Provide guests with exceptional customer service according to department guidelines.
  • Perform guest screening processes at point of entry.
  • Polite and diplomatic enforcement of policies and procedures concerning guests and employees.
  • Accurately process payments using a cash register and/or computer while adhering to cash handling guidelines.
  • Perform data entry for all guests within the Galaxy database (membership info, third-party tickets, premium tours and experiences).
  • Provide general guest service including guiding/interpreting, day planning/concierge service, and related tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of admissions box offices and front gate/front plaza areas.
  • Follow daily activity schedules and safety guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A high school or equivalency diploma preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to develop positive relationships across departments.
  • Ability to complete projects in a reasonable time frame to the satisfaction of management.
  • Courteous and tactful interaction with employees, peers, superiors, and the public.
  • Effective time management and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow specific instructions.
  • Flexibility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude.
  • Data entry experience including minimum typing of 40 wpm and minimum alphanumeric of 8,000 kph.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and contribute effectively to the department.
Other Requirements
  • Conducts all activities in alignment with AZA standards and guidelines, all relevant laws and regulations, safety standards, and animal welfare.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to use radio, telephone, and computer to communicate and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Manual dexterity to type and handle tools and equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to work varied and long shifts including holidays, weekends, and events as needed.
  • Must be able to plan for, work, and staff special events and be available for unexpected shifts.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions and lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to navigate paved and uneven pathways.
