JOB TITLE: Guest Services Events Team Member
DEPARTMENT: Guest Services
REPORTS TO: Guest Services Leadership
SCHEDULE: Wednesday-Sunday
Hourly Rate: $14.00/hour

SUMMARY:

The Events Team Member is an integral part of MOSI's evening operations, providing exceptional guest service during late afternoon and evening hours. This role supports a variety of front-line functions including Box Office ticketing and redemption, ushering guests in the Digital Dome, and assisting in the Gift Shop. Team members help ensure a smooth, enjoyable, and safe experience for all guests attending evening events, dome shows, and museum programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports MOSI's mission, values, vision and core commitment to the visitor experience, community engagement, and institutional relevancy for the future.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to all evening guests.
  • Operate the Box Office: process ticket sales, redemptions, and memberships for general admission and special evening events.
  • Usher guests in the Digital Dome (planetarium): take tickets, assist with seating, ensure smooth show transitions, and uphold a positive and professional guest experience.
  • Support operations in the Gift Shop: assist with merchandise sales, restocking, and closing procedures.
  • Accurately handle cash, credit card, and mobile transactions using point-of-sale systems.
  • Greet and direct guests, answering questions and offering guidance as needed.
  • Enforce museum policies and procedures in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas including the Box Office, Gift Shop, and Dome Theater.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown for evening events as needed.
  • Assist with directing and managing event parking to ensure smooth traffic flow and a positive guest experience
  • Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable resource for guests during evening hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Evening and weekend availability required; ability to work holidays and special event nights.
  • Prior experience in customer service, ticketing, retail, or event support preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment with a positive attitude.
  • Basic computer and POS (point-of-sale) skills; ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Must be comfortable working in dark/dim spaces (Digital Dome), standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 30 pounds occasionally.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Continually required to stand.

  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Continually required to talk or hear and utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
  • Frequently required to lift/push/carry items less than 50 pounds.
  • Frequently required to be around or near loud noises.
  • Frequently required to be around or near dark places.

MOSI is open 363 days a year. Employee may be required to work some special events which may fall on holidays, evenings, and/or weekends.
