HOK is seeking a Project Architect to lead deliverables, technical coordination, and Construction Phase Services for various project types. As a licensed architect, you'll ensure quality assurance, sign and seal drawings, and foster technical excellence while collaborating with the Project Manager and Project Designer.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership:
    Ensure the overall design intent of the project established by the Project Designer is incorporated into the detailed documentation and monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration.
  • Technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project, including working with the Specification Writer to develop specifications and coordination of drawings and specifications.
  • Perform accuracy checks on completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations, and set the overall strategy for producing documents and identifying sheets for each stage of the work.
  • Define data organization in files and the incorporation of elements into a Building Information Model (BIM); set up project team software parameters and manage standards.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative professional relationship with the Project Leadership Team and coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ensure construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
  • Supervise preparation of technical drawings by less senior architects or technicians and act as team leader on certain projects; mentor and direct less experienced staff.
  • Promote a green workplace through sustainable work practices and commit to external and internal client service.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship of trust with client leadership, regularly communicating to verify design requirements, specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentations.
  • Receive project direction from the Principal in Charge and Technical direction from the RBU Technical Principal, coordinating shared electronic documentation and files.
  • Assist in planning and conducting work, making minor adaptations and modifications to complete working drawing sets, and meet with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances.
  • Write reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions; provide technical support and project communications to the team.
  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; prepare and coordinate review of contractor's schedules, shop drawings, and samples.
  • Assist the Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, evaluating and selecting project‑related materials, and involve in specification set‑up and drawing coordination.
  • Participate in team meetings to resolve project issues, coordinate with other disciplines, adhere to schedule, address technical issues, review project costs and budgets.
  • Prepare meeting minutes of consultant coordination meetings and may prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and build models for client/project team review.
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • Participate in business development meetings with team leaders to target specified project, client or market opportunities.
Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required. Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of design experience. Licensed Architect with current registration in your region required; NCARB registration preferred. LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
