Opportunity Details- Position: Program Director for a new Internal Medicine GME program

Graduate Medical Education is expanding in Florida with a new Internal Medicine residency at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. We seek an experienced leader to oversee the program, including the 2025 ACGME application process for a 2026 start.
This is an excellent opportunity to establish a new GME program on Florida’s West Coast and impact the community by training new physicians, aligning with our mission of delivering high-quality care and positive patient outcomes. The role includes direct patient care, leadership, teaching, and administrative duties.
Opportunity Highlights- Leading the new Internal Medicine GME program
- Initially a consulting role transitioning to .6 FTE as Program Director, with remaining time in clinical practice
- Clinical practice benefits may include health, dental, life, disability insurance, PTO, and retirement plans
- Current ABIM/AOBIM board certification and specialty expertise
- Recent experience as Program Director or Associate Program Director (preferred)
- At least 3 years of documented educational and/or administrative experience in an accredited GME program
- Proven leadership, educational, and clinical skills
- Recent scholarly activities or research
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership abilities
Located in Lakewood Ranch, LWRMC is a Joint Commission-accredited, award-winning acute care hospital serving the region since 2004, with over 750 affiliated physicians and a $120M expansion underway, including a new five-story bed tower opening in December 2025.
