Job Description
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine are seeking a Pulmonary/Critical Care physician for a full‑time faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. This 12‑month salaried position carries attending staff privileges at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and affiliated hospitals. The appointment at Associate Professor requires a minimum of five years of continuing and productive service as an Assistant Professor, or equivalent.
Appointment at Full Professor requires a minimum of five years as an Associate Professor, or equivalent. The incumbent is responsible to a Chair or other higher‑level administrator of a State university, for teaching, research, service, administrative activities, academic advising, and may represent the university, college, or department.
- Clinical – Provide Critical Care services at TGH and/or affiliated hospitals and clinics.
- Teaching – Provide instruction and supervision for medical students, residents, and fellows at USF and its affiliated institutions in critical care, clinics, consults and lectures.
- Responsible to a Chair or other higher‑level administrator of a State university.
- Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
- Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
- May represent the university, college, or department.
- Minimum: Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor – normally must have produced creative work, professional writing or research in peer‑reviewed journals and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
- Additional Minimum: Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent. The candidate must obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals where clinical duties are performed.
- Preferred: USF is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service.
- MUST BE BOARD CERTIFIED/ELIGIBLE IN: Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care
