We are currently seeking a full‑time Upper School Honors Physics instructor who can begin teaching in August 2026. The recently redesigned introductory physics course includes a variety of design projects, lab practicals, and presentations for students to engage with the concepts covered in a typical course. To support this inquiry‑based model, the school provides a substantial annual budget for laboratory equipment and supplies, as well as a dedicated fund for ongoing professional development and conference attendance.
Qualified candidates should embrace an active, hands‑on approach to learning that brings the theory of physics to life and demonstrates its application to the world around them. In addition, they should have teaching experience, be proficient in their discipline, interested in the social and developmental needs of high school students, and eager to integrate technology in the classroom to enhance student learning.
Ideal candidates would also be able to assist with our award‑winning VEX robotics team or contribute to other extracurricular activities, such as coaching. Applicants should possess a bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in physics, science education, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in physics and its application in a high school curriculum.
- Proficiency in lesson planning and curriculum development for high school students
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and other facets of school life
- Experience teaching high school students is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire young learners
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus)
- Passion for teaching and fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
