The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising supports the Bellini College Director of Undergraduate Advising and will be responsible for day-to-day leadership for undergraduate advising operations, supervises advising staff and student support personnel, coordinates training and onboarding, and strengthens reporting practices that support retention, persistence, timely graduation, and student success. The role is responsible for implementing proactive advising strategies, monitoring advising quality and service standards, escalating complex student concerns, and collaborating with faculty, academic units/departments and university partners to ensure a consistent, student-centered undergraduate advising experience.

Opened in 2025 and powered by a University of South Florida record $40 million gift from Arnie and Lauren Bellini, USF's Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing is the first in Florida, and among the first in the nation, to unify AI, cybersecurity, and computing within a single college. More than 65 faculty members focus on cutting-edge research and educating 3,000+ bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students across 15-degree programs in computer science, cybersecurity, AI, information technology, and computer engineering.

The college emphasizes industry-relevant education and experiential learning to prepare students for real-world challenges. It also serves as the central hub for AI and cybersecurity research and teaching at USF, collaborating with colleges and units across the university

Responsibilities

Undergraduate Advising Program Leadership and Operations Support
  • Lead day-to-day undergraduate academic advising activities and ensure accurate, timely and consistent delivery of advising services across Bellini College undergraduate programs.
  • Develop, implement, and assess advising workflows, service standards, appointment practices, and undergraduate student success initiatives that support retention, progression, and four-year graduation goals.
  • Identify opportunities for program improvement, recommend process changes, and implement best practices in academic advising, success coaching, and proactive student support.
  • Contribute to planning, policy interpretation, process development, and operational decision-making for undergraduate advising services in alignment with college and university goals.
  • Provide direct support for complex student cases, escalated concerns, academic standing issues, petitions, appeals, graduation barriers, and policy exceptions.
  • Coordinate referrals to college, university, and student success resources and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation.
  • Represent the Director of Undergraduate Advising or the college in meetings, committees, orientations, recruitment events, and campus programs related to undergraduate advising and student success, when needed.
  • Supervision, Staff Development, and Performance Management
  • Supervise academic advisors and provide regular direction, coaching, feedback, and workload guidance to support a high-performing undergraduate advising team
  • Coordinate recruitment, hiring support, onboarding, and role clarification for advisors, peer mentors and tutors, undergraduate student ambassadors, and other student support personnel as assigned.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Undergraduate Advising support activities towards performance evaluations, goal setting, corrective guidance, and professional development planning.
  • Monitor advising caseloads, coverage, service levels, and advisor assignments; recommend adjustments to improve responsiveness, equity of service, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Advising Standards, Training, and Onboarding
  • Develop and maintain training materials and communication channels, onboarding plans, advising guides, and standard operating procedures for undergraduate advisors and student ambassadors.
  • Train advisors on degree requirements, advising systems, university policies, referral protocols, student success resources, advising expectations, and documentation standards.
  • Facilitate regular team training, case review, and calibration sessions to ensure consistent interpretation of undergraduate program requirements and advising practices.
  • Provide ongoing mentoring to advisors to strengthen advising quality, compliance, professional judgment, and student-centered communication.
  • Student Success Intervention, Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Use advising records, degree audit tools, enrollment data, class performance information, and other available reports to identify undergraduate students requiring intervention.
  • Prepare regular reports, dashboards, summaries, and advising updates for the Director of Undergraduate Advising, College leadership, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
