Responsibilities
The College of Nursing at the University of South Florida is seeking an Associate Dean for Faculty Development (ADFD). The ADFD provides strategic leadership for faculty development, mentoring, and professional growth across all faculty tracks. This role partners with the Dean and senior leadership to advance faculty success, support career progression, and foster a high-performing, inclusive academic environment aligned with USF and accreditation standards.
The ADFD serves as a key faculty mentor and advisor, focused on strengthening faculty readiness for promotion and tenure, enhancing scholarly productivity, advancing teaching excellence, and supporting faculty in meeting professional and academic
expectations throughout their careers.
Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive faculty development programs across all career stages.
Provide individualized mentoring and coaching to faculty on career progression, scholarship, and teaching
effectiveness.
Support faculty in understanding and successfully completing promotion, tenure, and professional growth processes.
Lead initiatives to enhance faculty scholarly productivity, including scientific writing and publishing initiatives (locally and globally) for faculty, postdocs, and graduate students.
Collaborate closely with the College's global engagement initiatives to promote international partnerships, faculty collaboration, scholarly exchange, and global opportunities for faculty and students.
Oversee faculty recognition and teaching excellence initiatives.
Collaborate with faculty governance committees (e.g., P&T, College Governance, Policy) in a developmental and advisory capacity.
Advise leadership on faculty development strategy and engagement initiatives.
Collaborate with HR and institutional partners to align faculty development initiatives with college priorities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in referred and other professional journals. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate/Full Professor.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership in academic settings.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in faculty development, mentoring, or coaching.
Knowledge of promotion and tenure expectations in academic settings.
Experience supporting scholarly productivity (e.g., writing, publishing, funding).
Knowledge of accreditation standards (e.g., CCNE).
Experience using data to inform faculty development initiatives
