The incumbent will serve as a full-time, non-tenure earning faculty position in the Practice Pathway in the Department of Community and Health Sciences. As a ranked professorial faculty position at USF, the incumbent will have teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities. In addition, the incumbent will serve as Coordinator of the COPH Nutrition Program responsible for providing day-to-day instructional leadership, program coordination, and administrative support for the growing Nutrition Program.
The incumbent will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Community and Health Sciences who will meet annually with the incumbent to discuss the specific assignment for the upcoming assignment year and to review performance during the previous year. The Director of the Nutrition Program will provide day-to-day direction for the duties related to the role of Coordinator, as well as provide input into the incumbent's annual assignment and evaluation.
- Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five years as a public health or healthcare professional or master's degree and three years of professional public health or healthcare experience.
- Teaching experience (may be as a teaching assistant or in another instructional capacity).
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill expectation of continued growth as a scholar/researcher. Independent, sustained funded research is not required.
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill expectation of contributions in the area of service commensurate with the College's mission.
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill expectation of collegiality and participation as a citizen of the University.
- Experience with ACEND standards, accreditation processes.
- Registered dietitian.
- Defined area of teaching expertise within nutrition or public health.
- Innovation in curriculum design, online learning, competency-based education, or course development.
- Experience coordinating or assisting with ACEND-accredited programs (e.g., DPD, DI, FDE, GP).
- Minimum five years of professional practice as a Registered Dietitian.
- Established record of scholarly activity consistent with practice-based scholarship (e.g., technical reports, professional presentations, program evaluation, applied research).
- Experience engaging diverse communities or leading practice-based initiatives aligned with public health nutrition.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary academic or practice environments.
- Develop and teach online and in-class courses related to the Nutrition Program; participate in college-wide teaching initiatives.
- Contribute to USF Health interprofessional education programs.
- Collaborate in teaching with faculty in other Colleges in USF Health and the University.
- Advise MPH, MSPH and doctoral students.
- Serve on thesis and doctoral committees as appropriate.
- Assist with curriculum development, revision, sequencing, and alignment across undergraduate and graduate nutrition offerings.
- Support preparation and maintenance of materials needed for accreditation or external review (e.g., syllabi, assessment plans, competency mapping, workforce development tracking).
- Collaborate with faculty across USF to recruit and retain students in the Nutrition Program.
- Contribute to development of student advising materials, webpages, recruitment collateral, and program communications.
- Serve on the Nutrition Program Admissions Committee and assist with application review and student onboarding.
- Support continuous quality improvement processes for coursework, student outcomes, and program performance.
- Provide operational support for program events, outreach, community engagement, and professional development initiatives.
