The Social Studies Coach will maintain and monitor the implementation of the social studies program, including professional development of school personnel. The Social Studies Coach is responsible for ensuring the comprehensive instruction of social studies within the school, as well as compliance with Full‑Time Equivalency (FTE) rules and guidelines from the Florida Department of Education and the United States Department of Education.

- Provide instructional coaching to all content area classroom teachers to improve social studies instruction and acquisition.
- Develop and conduct staff development for classroom teachers.
- Maintain and monitor implementation of Hillsborough County Public Schools’ Social Studies Program Guidelines and Procedures, inclusive of county and state guidelines and benchmarks.
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of best practices in social studies instruction across the content area.
- Develop and conduct professional development for targeted audiences in social studies instruction regarding instructional strategies, best practices, and specific instructional topics.
- Provide coaching to targeted audiences to improve social studies instruction, classroom organization and management, and effective implementation of district‑provided resources.
- Conduct data conferences with classroom teachers to interpret data and plan instruction, and model effective teaching techniques when presenting to groups and other professionals.
- Assist social studies and content‑specific supervisors in developing model lesson plans and curriculum.
- Meet regularly with building administrators regarding classroom practices and provide ongoing feedback with the district social studies supervisor.
- Continue to develop professional expertise through professional readings, trainings, and conferences.
- Promote parent and community outreach and involvement in the social studies instructional program at the school.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.

- Three years of increasingly responsible experience in classroom teaching, with two years of related management or supervisory experience required. Educational Leadership experience preferred.
- Florida Professional Educator Certificate.
