Job Description
The School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure earning Visiting Assistant Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction position in the field of GIScience. Salary is $50,000. This is a one-year visiting appointment to begin August 7, 2026, with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities- Teach introductory and advanced level courses in GIS/spatial data analysis, including graduate courses in the instructor’s specialty area.
- Complement existing school strengths in geography, environmental science, geology, health, transportation, natural hazards, water, quantitative literacy, and geocomputation.
M.S. from an accredited institution in Geography, GIS, or related field, with a demonstrated ability to teach GIS is required. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Instructor.
Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Geography, GIS, or related field, with a demonstrated ability to teach GIS. Preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of teaching experience in GIS/spatial data analysis and skills in Python.
