Position Details
The Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for the position of part-time instructor for the General Physics Laboratory courses. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is a vibrant and growing group of faculty, instructors, and students, and we are looking for qualified candidates to join our team.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Teach one or more 2-hour General Physics Laboratories per week for a semester. Experiments follow the syllabus and laboratory manual prepared by the physics faculty.
2. Explain to the students the experiments and expectations for each lab.
3. Assist students with apparatus set-up and data collection.
4. Set up and take down laboratory equipment as appropriate.
5. Provide meeting time for students.
6. Grade and return lab reports/worksheets to students in a timely fashion.
7. Submit final grades to physics lecture instructor(s).
The successful candidate will have:
1. A minimum of a Master's Degree in physics or related field.
2. Experience teaching introductory physics labs with PASCO or equivalent electronic probes and computer interfaces preferred.
Additional Information
Applications for part-time positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis which may include fall, spring and summer.
