Job Description

Summary:

The Teacher, Magnet Lead, will coordinate site-based magnet program activities, integrate each magnet program’s theme into curricula, explore partnerships to enhance each magnet program’s educational offerings, and market the magnet program to potential families and the community.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the recruitment and retention of students to the magnet program, including marketing to families and community through events.
  • Seek professional development opportunities to strengthen classroom practice and theme integration.
  • Disseminate curricular and instructional information from the district and other sources.
  • Serve as liaison between staff, administration, families, the Magnet Office, community, and professional organizations.
  • Complete and submit applications for grants, awards, and certifications to enhance program standing.
  • Collaborate with on-site staff on the use of available school technology and resources to increase student achievement.
  • Plan and coordinate learning activities to help students acquire skills specific to the site’s magnet theme.
  • Provide formative and summative data to administrators, professional staff, the Magnet Office, and the community on the status of the Magnet Program.
  • Develop and coordinate school marketing tools and events, parent information sessions, and family visits/tours.
  • Ensure the magnet program is represented at all appropriate district marketing events.
  • Organize school events and activities that support the magnet theme.
  • Plan and coordinate Professional Learning Community meetings that may include multiple magnet sites.
  • Attend monthly Magnet Lead meetings and professional development sponsored by the Magnet Office.
  • Prepare budgets and funding proposals to submit to the Magnet Office for approval.
  • Serve as a member of the School Improvement Planning team, School Advisory Committee, or other group to assist in decisions related to the health of the site’s magnet program.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

    Prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; set goals and objectives; work in an organized manner.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Three successful years teaching experience. Magnet experience preferred.
  • Florida Professional Educator Certificate.
  • Language skills: read, analyze, interpret documents; respond to inquiries; write speeches and present effectively.
  • Mathematical skills: probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions.
  • Reasoning ability: solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret instructions in various formats.
  • Computer skills:
    Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands
  • Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, hearing.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Reach with both hands, overhead.
  • Noise intensity moderate.
Other Requirements
  • Travel to various school sites, work locations, and community organizations throughout the district.
