Summary:
The Kindergarten Assistant will provide academic, socio-emotional, and/or behavioral support at the direction of the kindergarten teacher. The job will include instructional and supervisory responsibilities while working with students one-on-one, with a small group of students, or with a whole group of students. The Kindergarten Assistant will report to and is evaluated by the principal and kindergarten teacher(s).
Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities include preparing materials for instruction, providing planning time for teachers, including outdoor activities, rhythm activities, and story time, providing lunchroom assistance, supervising school-based routines, such as dismissal, restroom, etc. Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the district.

Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.
Education:
Passed the Para Pro Test with a score of 457 or higher.
Experience:
Experience working with young children preferred. Language skills:
Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations. Mathematical skills:
Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning ability:
Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Computer skills:
Microsoft Office. Physical demands:
Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, talking, hearing. Lifting demands:
Up to 55 pounds. Reaching activities:
Overhead.
Environmental conditions:
Noise intensity: 3, moderate.
