Visiting Assistant Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction
The School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure earning Visiting Assistant Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction position in the field of GIScience. Salary is $50,000. This is a one-year visiting appointment to begin August 7, 2026, with the possibility of renewal.
The GIScience visiting instructor will teach introductory and advanced level courses in GIS/spatial data analysis, including graduate courses in his/her specialty area. The successful candidate's area of specialty will complement existing school strengths in geography, environmental science, and geology, which include GIScience, health, transportation, natural hazards, water, quantitative literacy, and geocomputation.
Minimum Qualifications: M.S. from an accredited institution in Geography, GIS, or related field, with a demonstrated ability to teach GIS is required. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Instructor.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD from an accredited institution in Geography, GIS, or related field, with a demonstrated ability to teach GIS. Preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of teaching experience in GIS/spatial data analysis and skills in Python.
