Description

Summary:

The Kindergarten Assistant will provide academic, socio-emotional, and/or behavioral support at the direction of the kindergarten teacher. The job will include instructional and supervisory responsibilities while working with students one-on-one, with a small group of students, or with a whole group of students. The Kindergarten Assistant will report to and is evaluated by the principal and kindergarten teacher(s).

Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
• Prepares materials for instruction.
• Provides planning time for teachers, including but not limited to outdoor activities, rhythm activities, and story time.
• Provides lunchroom assistance.
• Supervises school-based routines, such as dismissal, restroom, etc.
• Performs any other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the district.

Qualifications:

Education:

Passed the Para Pro Test with a score of 457 or higher.

Experience:

Experience working with young children preferred. Language

Skills:

Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations. Mathematical

Skills:

Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability:
Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Computer

Skills:
