Compensation$73,819.00 – $ per year
Work Schedule40 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday, with regular weekend work on Saturdays and Sundays, never more than every other weekend.
Job SummaryThe City of Chandler Cultural Development Department is seeking an experienced education leader to create and oversee inclusive, engaging learning opportunities for children, families, adults, and school groups, ensuring program excellence through staff development and data‑driven evaluation.
Essential Functions- Supervise daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals, managing schedules, evaluating performance, providing guidance, and addressing issues. Conduct interviews and make hiring decisions.
- Assist the Museum Manager and Museum Senior Program Manager with program development, implementation, and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with other institutions and community partners.
- Research, develop, and present written materials and presentations for educational programs and exhibits.
- Oversee, develop program curricula and learning goals for all public‑facing programs (pre‑K, child, family, and adult) across all museum facilities.
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute educational activities, including school group visits, summer camps, workshops, and public programs aligned with museum exhibitions.
- Develop and oversee field‑trip programs with local school district representatives.
- Oversee interactive aspects of exhibitions (e.g., interpretive materials) ensuring alignment with educational objectives.
- Analyze visitor feedback and program effectiveness to report findings to stakeholders and guide improvements.
- Manage, train, and schedule education staff, educators, docents, and interns, including hiring and performance evaluations.
- Understanding of standard museum operating procedures, exhibit planning, development, and implementation; collections management practices.
- Ability to develop and implement educational programming for children and adults; appreciation for city history; marketing strategies and public relations.
- Knowledge of Federal OSHA, state, county regulations, and city policies regarding risk management and safe work practices.
- Supervisory skill, performance evaluation, logical and creative problem‑solving, multitasking, and proficiency with computers and related software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle in compliance with traffic laws.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Positive public image and ability to maintain effective relationships with city employees and the public.
- Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, social science, public history, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience within a museum setting.
- Three (3) years of experience in education and programming within a museum setting.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, adequate hearing, vision, and manual dexterity to operate office equipment and a personal computer.
- Mobility and flexibility to work in an office environment and lift up to 20 pounds.
Required travel: 0–10 %.
