Overview
The Clinical Coordinator manages the clinical education component of the curriculum.
Business ContributionThe Clinical Coordinator plans, coordinates, facilitates, administers, and monitors activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical faculty. These activities ensure the quality of our students’ learning experience during clinical education.
- Assists with the development and assessment of the clinical education component of the curriculum with the Program Director
- Coordinating and implementing the clinical education component of the curriculum including site placements, site visits, and evaluation
- Facilitating students’ clinical education
- Ensuring clinical education program compliance
- Responsible for the administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program
- Develops, monitors, and refines the clinical education component of the curriculum
- Facilitates quality learning experiences for students during clinical education
- Selects clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of an ethical and professional facility that incorporates the program’s core
- Documents and assesses clinical education sites and clinical educators to determine quality and readiness
- Coordinates the ongoing development of the clinical facility database with maintenance of clinical agreements and other appropriate clinical information
- Ensures clinical agreements are current and that students are assigned only to facilities with properly executed and unexpired contracts
- Communicates program curriculum, philosophy, objectives, evaluative criteria, policies, procedures, clinical dates, and other pertinent information to affiliating clinical sites
- Serves as liaison between the students and clinical sites
- Communicates and oversees communication with the Center Coordinators of Clinical Education, Clinical Instructors, and students to monitor progress and assess students’ performance
- Provides guidance and support as required to problem‑solve and discuss students’ issues
- Meets with students prior to clinical affiliations to disseminate information on clinical policies and procedures, site information, and clinical education philosophy
- Monitors and assesses students’ performance during clinical education
- Administers policies and procedures for immunization, preventative health practices, and management of student injuries while at clinical sites
- Prepares clinical rotation assignments
- Teaches clinical education courses and other related content areas
- Complies with site requirements
- Ensures student physical and/or immunization forms are current and in compliance
- Tracks and issues continuing education hours in accordance with state and local regulations
- Ensures liability protection of students and faculty (when required) inclusive of professional, governmental, institutional, and risk management
- Clinical Nursing – Full‑time position requires MSN, Florida RN License, and 4 years of work experience in the field. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
- Day and weekend availability required.
- Experience in an academic environment, particularly in a career college, is highly valued.
- Knowledge of management, communication across disciplines, and planning to prioritize faculty needs.
- Skills in written and oral communication, time management, and problem solving.
- At minimum, the Clinical Coordinator must have the degree required for the specific discipline and appropriate credentials and licensure.
- Leadership and ability to adapt to changing environments and manage competing demands.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may be required to stand or sit for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
