The USF Health Development and Alumni Engagement team, in collaboration with the USF Foundation, provides fundraising support for the Morsani College of Medicine, the USF College of Nursing, the Taneja College of Pharmacy, and the USF College of Public Health, as well as the clinical departments and multiple institutes across USF Health. The department develops and executes programs to engage alumni, faculty, staff, patients, and friends, and provides support for stewardship and donor communication.
The Assistant Director of Development plays a key role in advancing the philanthropic mission of USF Health by managing the planning, execution, and evaluation of annual and special fundraising campaigns that span the colleges and departments across USF Health. This position supports the entire USF Health enterprise and works collaboratively across departments to strengthen donor engagement and expand fundraising outcomes. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Senior Associate Vice President for the department.
ResponsibilitiesCampaign Management
- Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of USF Health’s annual giving campaigns.
- Manage special fundraising campaigns from concept through execution, including timelines, messaging, and performance tracking.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop campaign strategies that align with institutional priorities.
- Analyze campaign performance and recommend improvements to maximize participation and revenue.
- Assist in securing outside sponsor ships for USF Health events, programs, and initiatives.
- Identify and cultivate new corporate and community partners to support sponsorship opportunities.
- Develop sponsorship proposals, packages, and stewardship plans.
- Ensure timely fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and recognition.
- Support fundraising initiatives across all areas of USF Health, ensuring alignment with overarching advancement goals.
- Manage departmental newsletters in collaboration with advancement communications to highlight the myriad of exciting programs, research and philanthropic initiatives across USF Health.
- Partner with development colleagues, communications teams, and leadership to execute integrated fundraising strategies.
- Assist with data tracking, reporting, and donor engagement efforts related to campaigns and events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a broad range of constituents, including:
- Alumni
- Faculty and staff
- Parents
- Patients
- Donors and friends
- Community and corporate partners
- Represent USF Health at events and engagement opportunities to strengthen donor relationships.
- Contribute to special initiatives and strategic projects as assigned by leadership.
- Provide flexible support across development functions to meet evolving departmental needs.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to development or other appropriate professional experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in higher education, academic health centers, or nonprofit organizations.
Degree Equivalency Clause:
Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.

Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements - A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:

- (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
- (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
- (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
- Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
- Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
This position may be subject to a Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check.
