The Adult Education Teacher instructs designated adult general education content areas and courses. The position supports district goals and promotes a positive educational climate.

• Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
• Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
• Develop and deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
• Use a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of students.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards, monitor assessment data, and maintain grades and attendance.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom using effective strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
• Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
• Take all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain and secure confidential records, inquiries, and data appropriately.
• Maintain required certifications and professional development hours as required.
• Promote adult programs to develop and sustain student participation.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

• Competent in all required teaching skills and knowledge.
• Strong judgment and decision‑making ability.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Project planning and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Mathematical skills: probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.

• Florida Professional Educator Certificate preferred;
  Florida Temporary Certificate required.
• Eligibility to hold a certifiable degree in math, science, English, etc.
• Preferably Florida resident (due to veteran preferences).

• Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
• Lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Reaching with both dominant and non‑dominant hands, overhead.
• Work performed in a moderate noise environment.
