The Adult Education Teacher instructs designated adult general education content areas and courses. The position supports district goals and promotes a positive educational climate.
Responsibilities- Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
- Develop and deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
- Use a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of students.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards, monitor assessment data, and maintain grades and attendance.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom using effective strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
- Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
- Take all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain and secure confidential records, inquiries, and data appropriately.
- Maintain required certifications and professional development hours as required.
- Promote adult programs to develop and sustain student participation.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Competent in all required teaching skills and knowledge.
- Strong judgment and decision‑making ability.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Project planning and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Mathematical skills: probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
- Florida Professional Educator Certificate preferred;
Florida Temporary Certificate required. - Eligibility to hold a certifiable degree in math, science, English, etc.
- Preferably Florida resident (due to veteran preferences).
- Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Reaching with both dominant and non‑dominant hands, overhead.
- Work performed in a moderate noise environment.
