Job Description
Multiple open rank faculty positions are available in the Center for Molecular Psychiatry within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, in conjunction with the Neurosciences Institute at the University of South Florida. Candidates are expected to be highly engaged in collaborative research ventures and to provide mentorship to talented mentees. Successful candidates shall have an M.D. or Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, or related disciplines, a track record of scholarly research, publications, and history of, or evidence of potential for obtaining extramural funding.
A research focus in basic, translational and/or clinical sciences which directly contributes to the etiology, prevention, diagnosis and/or treatment of a wide array of psychiatric disorders is appropriate. Expertise in cell‑based or non‑rodent animal model systems is preferred but not required.
- Develop and maintain a nationally competitive research program with continued extramural funding, peer‑reviewed publications, and collaboration with other faculty.
- Participate in didactic teaching and mentoring medical or graduate students or post‑doctoral fellows.
- Participate in service functions of the institute, department, or university and at the national level.
- Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher‑level administrator of a State university.
- Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
- Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
- May represent the university, college/school, or department.
- Completion of a doctoral degree in a related field.
- Must be able to meet University criteria for appointment at rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor Rank.
