3rd Grade Ela Teacher

The elementary teacher is responsible for the instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within an elementary school. District expectations include demonstrating regular and predictable attendance, supporting the district's vision, engaging in civility, respect, and professionalism, and maintaining professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students' needs; creating a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport; creating and delivering relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement; utilizing a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students;

observing and evaluating student performance and mastery of standards, monitoring student assessment data, and maintaining student grades and attendance; managing student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures; communicating with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encouraging parental involvement; taking all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities;

appropriately maintaining and securing confidential records, inquiries, and data; maintaining appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required; and performing any other duties as assigned.
