Job Description

Summary:

The Paraprofessional 2, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) will assist the school staff in the care and management of enrolled students while they are in school. Duties are performed under the direction of the teacher and supervised by the principal, who evaluates performance through observation of work, critiques, and/or records and reports.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the daily schedule and assignments.
  • Assist teacher in implementing the instructional programs of the district.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
  • Participate in inservice and professional development activities.
  • Follow teachers lesson plans and provide supervision in the absence of the teacher.
  • Provide care, well‑being, and supervision of students with disabilities as directed by the teacher.
  • Establish and maintain positive professional communication among students, staff, and parents as applicable.
  • Assist with the duties of Paraprofessional I as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist with the implementation of the classroom management system as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist with the implementation and use of sign language or augmented communication systems related to the student’s communication needs as directed by the teacher.
  • Implement instructional activities such as reading out loud, small‑group subject lessons, art activities, music activities, cooking, etc. as directed by the teacher.
  • Perform light custodial duties that relate to the safety and hygiene in the classroom and other environments accessed by the student as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist students with community‑based instruction and training, both on and off campus as directed by the teacher.
  • Supervise student behavior using positive behavior supports and interventions in the classroom, lunchroom, on school grounds, and at off‑campus activities as directed by the teacher.
  • Participate in parent involvement activities that may include conferences as directed by the teacher.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned, with responsibilities and tasks not exhaustive and may change as determined by district needs.
