Visiting Assistant Instructor

Applications are invited for a full-time, non-tenure earning, 12-month Visiting Assistant Instructor position in the Department of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering. Successful candidates are expected to start teaching courses in Spring semester of 2027. This is a one-year visiting appointment with the possibility of renewal for a second-year contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funds.

The successful candidate will be able to effectively teach courses at the undergraduate level in the department, both in-person and online, and will be expected to perform some undergraduate student advising and mentoring as well as assist with curriculum development, capstone design, ABET accreditation, and service to the department/college/university. Special emphasis is on candidates who will have the capability to teach laboratory courses in the undergraduate Chemical Engineering degree program.

The anticipated teaching load is three to four courses per semester, depending on course assignments, laboratory responsibilities, and departmental needs. Candidates are expected to have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in teams, integrate education and service activities. Salary is negotiable.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Chemical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.

    D. Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution
  • Candidates should have some teaching experience in a US university
  • Candidate should have experience in setting up and running engineering teaching laboratory experiments
  • Candidate should have a record of developing and implementing innovative educational approaches.
  • Candidate should have some industrial experience.
