Summary
The Secondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher (grades 6-12) and the Postsecondary Teacher are responsible for the instruction of designated CTE content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting.

- Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
- Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
- Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
- Develop and deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
- Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards, monitor assessment data, and maintain grades and attendance.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by employing effective classroom management strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
- Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
- Take all necessary precautions to provide a safe learning environment and protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain and secure confidential records, inquiries, and data appropriately.
- Maintain appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
- Engage with local businesses and community stakeholders by maintaining a Program Advisory Board to collaborate with the CTE program.
- Participate as local chapter advisor for the appropriate Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO).
- Engage in continuous improvement and professional development, including earning appropriate industry certifications.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
