Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

POSITION CONCEPT: The CCS is responsible in a line capacity to the Superintendent of Generation for the performance of all assigned operating and maintenance tasks. The incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of plant equipment and systems, including monitoring, observing, and maintaining conditions that affect safe and reliable operation, compliance with all applicable NERC standards, and environmental permits.
The CCS also follows water management guidance, completes individual and teamwork assignments, and ensures an optimum customer-focused response to Energy Control Center power needs. Prior to appointment, individuals must pass and maintain physical requirements to participate on an Emergency Response Team, including physical exam / PFT and fit tests for respiratory protection equipment.
- Ensure safe work practices and station safety programs are followed. Understand and follow Corporate/Department (ES) / Bayside Station Policies.
- Complete all required training and assessments within allocated time for each position step.
- Include emergency response training (e.g., Confined Space Rescue, Hazmat, Incipient Fire, First Aid / CPR).
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill to perform in all operating positions (Power Block, Steam Plant, Rover, Control Room); perform rounds, turnovers, information sharing, HEC procedures, unit/equipment start-ups/shut-downs, minor repairs, and initiate/work orders using the work management system.
- Perform maintenance tasks safely and efficiently; achieve journeyman level within CCS core craft skill; assist other CCSs as needed; perform tasks outside core skill when safe and appropriate.
- Support Continuous Improvement opportunities from Operational Excellence Programs (e.g., ownership of area assignments, 3-way communication, electronic logs, enhanced rounds).
- Foster open communication with peers, support staff and management; understand and support attainment of company and station goals.
- Keep Energy Control Center personnel, duty personnel, plant management, engineering and technical staff updated on equipment problems, system restrictions, return-to-service delays, and reliability issues.
- Complete turnover logs, unusual incident reports, accident/environmental reports, CEM malfunction documentation, and capability reports.
