In the role of Transportation Planner, we’ll count on you to:

  • Provide community and transportation planning services for cities and counties, metropolitan planning organizations, state transportation agencies, and transit agencies
  • Collect and analyze project‑related data which may include research, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, land use surveys, and socioeconomic analysis.
  • Conduct technical analysis involving data analytics, GIS, etc. and represent findings in narrative, map graphic, and tabular form
  • Prepare required documents such as categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, environmental impact studies and other technical reports
  • Develop planning graphic presentation material conveying complex data through a visual lens. Conduct constraints mapping and maps/documents required by the project to inform and educate clients, stakeholders, and the public
  • Support community engagement and public information efforts, meetings, and public hearings, including participation in public meetings or workshops to explain planning proposals, gather feedback from those affected by projects, or help build consensus on planning and design proposals
  • Prepare technical memorandums, reports, and other project deliverables
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Urban Planning or closely related field
  • 3 or more years of planning experience with a consulting firm or public agency
  • Experience with industry standard communication software, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and other similar software
  • Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or closely related field
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs
  • Self‑starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem‑solving and research abilities
  • May require the ability to travel
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
