Position: PROJECT ENGINEER (MARITIME)

For over 40 years, Aero Simulation, Inc. (ASI) has provided quality flight training devices to the U.S. Military. ASI has successfully built numerous training systems with a primary focus on aircrew and maintenance training systems. Current programs include the B-1 Training Systems (Air Force), E-2D Training Systems (Navy), CH-53E Training Devices (USMC), IMOMS (Coast Guard), Navigation, Seamanship, Ship handling Trainer – NSST (Navy).

Position Summary

The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for all technical and engineering aspects on assigned projects. The successful PE leads a multi‑disciplined engineering team and works closely with Program Managers, functional groups, other departments, customers, and subcontractors/vendors to facilitate project completion while meeting customer requirements. This role provides hands‑on technical leadership, system integration oversight, and engineering governance for complex training systems. The Mid‑level/Senior Project Engineer assigned to this role will have primary technical responsibility for the Maritime Integrated Training System (MITS) program.

Duties And Responsibilities Technical Leadership & System Integration
  • Serves as the program’s technical authority, responsible for overall technical design, system architecture, and hardware/software integration
  • Reviews, approves, and provides technical direction on requirements, specifications, designs, test plans, and technical milestones
  • Ensures hardware/software integration issues are identified, tracked, and resolved through appropriate corrective actions
  • Oversees engineering release processes to ensure technical integrity, configuration control, and compliance with program requirements
  • Ensures final delivered products accurately represent the target aircraft or maritime platform and meet all contractual and technical requirements
Program Execution & Engineering Coordination
  • Coordinates and directs engineering activities across small‑ and large‑scale training device programs within a matrixed organization
  • Identifies technical risks, integration challenges, and resource constraints; recommends solutions such as reallocation of resources or technical approach changes
  • Communicates technical status, schedule impacts, and risk mitigation strategies to Program Management and other stakeholders
  • Provides engineering support during manufacturing, integration, test, and acceptance phases to ensure timely and compliant program execution
  • Participates as a presenter or technical reviewer in internal and external program reviews
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Builds and supports high‑performing, multidisciplinary engineering teams through clear technical direction, defined engineering practices, and shared goals
  • Provides technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to engineers supporting assigned programs or tasks
  • Works collaboratively with functional engineering groups, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and other departments to support program objectives
  • Leads engineering coordination in a matrix environment where functional resources are shared across programs
Customer Engagement & Business Development
  • Serves as the program’s primary technical representative during in‑plant and on‑site customer acceptance activities; extended travel may be required
  • Interfaces directly with customers, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with program requirements
  • Supports new business development and proposal efforts by contributing technical expertise, designs, cost inputs, and technical narratives
  • May serve as a technical proposal lead on assigned pursuits
  • Represents ASI engineering at relevant third‑party stakeholder meetings and technical forums as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides technical leadership and task direction to engineering personnel within a matrixed organization. May support performance feedback and technical evaluations but does not have direct hire/fire authority unless specifically assigned.
