About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Tooling & Fixtures Design Engineer to design, develop, and implement production tooling that supports high‑quality, efficient manufacturing operations. This role plays a key part in improving process capability, reducing cycle time, and ensuring consistent product quality across our manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling for machining, assembly, welding, and inspection processes.
- Produce detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software (Solid Works is a must).
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Production teams to gather requirements and define tooling solutions.
- Perform tolerance analysis and apply GD&T to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
- Oversee prototype fabrication, perform functional testing, and implement design improvements.
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities related to tooling performance.
- Maintain documentation, BOMs, revision control, and compliance with internal standards.
- Work with external suppliers, machine shops, and fabrication vendors for tooling build and validation.
- Drive improvements to existing tools to reduce scrap, improve ergonomics, and optimize cycle time.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in tooling, fixturing, or mechanical design.
- Proficiency in CAD design tools ( Solid Works).
- Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing tooling for CNC machining, welding, assembly, or inspection.
- Familiarity with FEA or basic stress analysis.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or DFMA principles.
- Experience with automation/robotics fixturing or CMM inspection fixtures.
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing for tooling
