Senior Project Engineer

CPH is a multi-disciplinary Engineering and Architecture firm that ranks in the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms by ENR Magazine. We are seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to join our dynamic and collaborative land development team in Tampa, FL.

The Senior Project Engineer provides technical leadership and strategic direction for land development projects, guiding teams through all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept development to successful delivery. This role is responsible for ensuring projects meet client specifications, quality standards, budget requirements, and schedule commitments. The Senior Project Engineer collaborates closely with cross-disciplinary teams, contractors, and vendors to drive innovative, cost‑effective solutions while maintaining a focus on safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

Serving as both a hands‑on contributor and a mentor, this position plays a key role in advancing technical excellence and strengthening the firm’s reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

• Lead and manage the design team during the conceptual and development phases of projects.
• Develop detailed action plans and resource estimates for labor, materials, and timelines required to successfully complete projects.
• Evaluate and select vendors based on technical competence, capabilities, resources, and financial stability.
• Monitor project progress, comparing actual performance and costs against established estimates, and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Partner with the design team to revise and refine project plans in response to challenges or changing requirements.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports, including progress, risks, and financial updates, to senior leadership.
• Review and analyze existing equipment, facilities, systems, and processes to identify opportunities for efficiency, quality improvement, and cost reduction.
• Collaborate with operations teams to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Coordinate with project engineers across other locations to exchange knowledge, solutions, and best practices.
• Manage a staff of junior engineers and delegate work as needed.

Education and Experience:

• B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in civil engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

• Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with project management platforms such as Deltek VantagePoint and Smartsheet.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software; knowledge of ISO 9000 design requirements is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills for reviewing costs, preparing budget reports, and evaluating project performance.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Effective multi-tasking and project management skills, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
