Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Steam Power Generation Specialist to advance our multi-disciplinary design team addressing the most challenging engineering tasks in power generation. AECOM's broad technical capabilities, global footprint and experience in executing large scale projects uniquely position us to lead in traditional steam, thermal power generation and advanced nuclear technologies. This includes being a part of the first-of-a-kind program with AECOM partners advancing the innovative stellarator technology to the world.
For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.
As a subject matter specialist, we are looking for an exceptional candidate with a power engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base. Qualified candidates will have a strong background and specialization in steam and thermal power engineering coupled with project leadership experience.
The successful candidate will have a high level of understanding and experience in mechanical engineering design and technology principles for process/mechanical and generation projects.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the mechanical engineering design work on assigned projects;
Function as the “Engineer of Record” on projects - Serve as lead engineer on all size projects maintaining responsible charge of mechanical deliverables
- Collaborate with Department manager and technical leaders to collaborate on strategic approaches to steam and thermal power generation
- Provide mentorship to other engineers within Department and other remote teams
- Support company business development activities (e.g. pre-positioning and proposal response development) Coordination with the mechanical piping design team to direct completion of engineering drawings.
- Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&’s, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etc.
- Provides technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence and other studies presenting complex technical solutions to clients.
- Generate applicable mechanical engineering deliverables to support all phases of scope development – Feasibility through Detail Design
- Develop construction and equipment specifications and material requisitions
- Home office support of projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
- Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others
- Participate in project and client meetings
- Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractors
- Assist with internal and external presentations
- Occasional travel to client and/or project sites
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering + 8 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- 9+ years of Energy related experience
- 5+ yrs experience as project technical mechanical lead/mechanical engineer of record
- Experience in engineer and design of Combined Cycle Plants and Nuclear Generation Stations
- Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, PIP,…
