Project Architect / Senior Designer - Tampa, FL

Remote Status: On-Site

Job Summary

This position is responsible for project design, construction administration, and building client relationships for architectural projects in Florida and the Gulf Coast Region (LA, GA, SC). Project experience in aviation (terminals, hangars, support facilities), transportation (weigh stations, rest stops, support facilities), civic/governmental, commercial, and ports/marinas facilities is desirable. The role reports to the VP of Architecture with potential for advancement. Office location:
Tampa, FL.

Responsibilities
  • Design schematic development plans for aviation buildings/complexes, including land planning and interior design.
  • Prepare concept designs and programming studies in collaboration with project managers.
  • Prepare design and contract documents for all project phases.
  • Research materials, building assemblies, codes, and apply them to project requirements.
  • Coordinate drawings and specifications with internal and external disciplines/consultants.
  • Prepare graphics, presentations, contract drawings, regulatory submissions, and maintain project records.
  • Handle estimates/calculations, design review, and project scheduling with aviation division project management teams.
  • Ensure all design aspects comply with local code jurisdiction and independently apply code provisions and design procedures.
  • Utilize cost‑effective LEED‑compliant integrations in complex designs when possible.
  • Perform site visits and document field/site reports.
  • Assist with RFIs, construction submittals, proposals, and RFP responses.
  • Develop and maintain positive team, customer, and client relationships.
Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable in Revit/BIM 360 and AutoCAD (required); proficiency in 3‑D presentation/rendering (Sketch Up, Artlantis, Lumion, etc.) (required).
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office suite and Microsoft Project (required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, proactive, and exceptional technology skills.
  • Ability to provide efficient, cost‑effective solutions for high client satisfaction.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must complete a pre‑employment screening; ICE is a drug‑free workplace.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture from an NAAB‑accredited university (required).
  • Active Architect License strongly desired (Florida preferred or ability to become registered).
  • Minimum 10 years of architectural design experience, preferably with aviation and transportation facilities.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements

This position involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, occasional standing and walking, and lifting lightweight office supplies (≤20 lb). The office is indoors with controlled temperatures. Employees must have strong visual, auditory and written communication skills, adaptability to changing workflows, and the ability to sit extended periods.

Expected Hours of Work

The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with an unpaid lunch hour. Work schedules may vary per project. This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office five days per week.

Pay Range: $72,000 – $95,680 per year
