Seven Seas Water Group (SSWG) is a portfolio company owned by investment funds managed by EQT. Headquartered in Tampa, SSWG delivers annually over 20 billion gallons of water to industrial, commercial, governmental, municipal, and hospitality customers across the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America. With more than 200 water and wastewater treatment plants in operation, SSWG offers a “Water-as-a-Service®” approach that optimizes project risk transfer between the public and private sectors.

Job Summary

The Senior Project Engineer is accountable for all aspects of engineering necessary to deliver water treatment systems—primarily Reverse Osmosis systems treating seawater and brackish water—to be operated by Seven Seas Water (Operations Group). The engineer owns all engineering activities for turn‑key solutions on green‑field and brown‑field sites, including in‑house engineering, 3‑D design, instrumentation & control engineering, SCADA development, and management of 3rd‑party subcontracts for civil, structural, permitting, and other engineering disciplines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead engineer for assigned projects; support the project manager in executing engineering deliverables.
  • Own the P& integration of the project across all disciplines to ensure design consistency.
  • Prepare engineering documents (P&IDs, foundation loading charts, valves list, equipment data sheets, heat‑exchanger data sheet, paint and lining matrix, piping and valve specs) within specified deadlines.
  • Prepare Material Purchase Specifications (MPS) and review and release technical bid evaluations (TBEs). After purchase orders, review and approve supplier submittals to ensure on‑schedule execution.
  • Coordinate heavily with the 3‑D Plant Design Team to complete 3‑D plant design of new facilities without performing CADD work; deliver annotated construction drawings of high quality.
  • Facilitate HAZOP and plant design reviews for new plants.
  • Maintain detailed bill of materials (BOM) in the company ERP system (IFS) and issue purchase requisitions using the ERP system.
  • Direct and approve the work of mechanical AutoCAD designers completing mechanical and process drawings.
  • Assist business development with costing on new plants proposed by the company.
  • Assist in the completion of operational procedures for new plants.
Qualifications
  • Strong technical knowledge of seawater and brackish water reverse osmosis technology and related wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings such as P&IDs, PFDs, and GA’s.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); proficiency in MS Visio and/or AutoCAD preferred.
  • Ability to direct design personnel and strong mechanical engineering skills.
  • Process design skills are a plus.
  • English fluency required;
Spanish speaking ability strongly preferred, or other multilingual skills highly desired.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule (multiple days per week in Tampa) and travel 10–20% internationally.
  • PE license highly desired; PMP certification is a plus.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • 5–10 years of professional work experience preferred.
  • Relevant experience in the water treatment industry, including reverse‑osmosis system design; sea‑water reverse osmosis (SWRO) experience highly preferred.
  • Mechanical design experience with piping materials such as PVC, stainless steel, FRP, and support systems for piping, valves, pumps, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with all facets of project execution, focusing on detailed engineering of reverse osmosis and related process equipment design.
