Forensic Structural Engineer

Forensic Structural Engineer - Hybrid/Remote - Tampa, FL

NV5 is seeking a Forensic Structural Engineer to manage structural forensic engineering assignments, perform forensic assessments, create verbal and written reports for insurance carriers, attorneys, homeowners, and property managers, and serve as an expert in litigation cases. The role requires constant travel within 150 miles of the office location and occasional travel to other NV5 offices or regions.

• Communicate with clients before and after site visit and post report production to review scopes and explain findings.
• Perform on‑site interviews with various individuals to collect histories, data, and concerns.
• Photograph site conditions to document and help determine causes of loss.
• Review codes, standards, research, and apply critical analysis to develop conclusions that are defensible.
• Maintain good project data management and storage practices.
• Supervise, when appropriate, junior engineers in field work, report development, and research.
• Develop reports outlining site observations, applicable codes, standards, findings, and conclusions.
• Testify in legal proceedings when required, in correlation to work product.

• B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering.
• M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Residential and/or Commercial inspection & assessment experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards and construction practices is required; litigation experience is a plus.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date.
