Overview

Kimley-Horn's Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (FL) office is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join their Building Structures team to lead restoration projects involving building envelope and structural rehabilitation!

The candidate will manage complex scopes across roofing, waterproofing, concrete repair, sealants, fenestration (windows, doors, glazing), stucco, exterior painting, and metal/stone cladding systems. This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing technical execution, inspection coordination, client communication, and construction phase services. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical and logistical execution of building restoration projects from assessment through construction close-out.
  • Develop and review detailed scopes of work and construction documents for roofing, waterproofing, concrete, façade systems, and fenestration repairs.
  • Conduct condition assessments in accordance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM E2018, ACI, ICRI, AAMA) and document findings through field reports and formal presentations.
  • Perform structural evaluations of existing concrete and masonry systems, including load path verification, deterioration analysis, and code compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate and manage construction-phase inspections, including threshold inspections, quality control reviews, and field testing oversight.
  • Review and respond to submittals, RFIs, and change orders with emphasis on technical accuracy and contractual compliance.
  • Interface directly with clients, property managers, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met in terms of schedule, quality, and cost.
  • Mentor junior staff in restoration engineering best practices and support their technical growth.
  • Lead client meetings, board presentations, and technical discussions with owners and stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and building long-term client relationships.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience in structural or façade restoration, preferably with exposure to high-rise residential and commercial buildings.
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Florida (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Proven technical knowledge in at least three of the following domains: roofing, below-grade and above-grade waterproofing, reinforced concrete restoration, fenestration systems (windows, doors, curtain wall), stucco systems, coating and sealant systems, masonry, or cladding assemblies.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and guidelines: FBC, IBC, ACI 562, ICRI Guidelines, ASTM E2128, ASTM C1193, AAMA 511, etc.
  • Strong project management experience, including budgeting, schedule development, change management, and inspection coordination.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, construction detailing, and specification development.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project (or similar platforms).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership presence, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and willingness to perform site work as needed.
