Role description
Arcadis is looking for a Principal Process Mechanical / Wastewater Engineer with 10 years of experience to join our Resilience Water Team in Tampa, Florida. The role involves leading design efforts, mentoring junior engineers, and driving project delivery in the municipal water and wastewater market.
Role accountabilities- Provide leadership, technical knowledge and experience to further develop our design team capabilities.
- Serve as design manager and lead project tasks in collaboration with project managers and clients, overseeing planning, design, permitting and construction of wastewater and/or reclaimed water facilities.
- Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations, analysis and use design software to solve complex issues.
- Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for wastewater system assets.
- Develop and meet scope, delivery schedules and project budgets for each assignment.
- Work directly with project managers to determine needs, prepare winning proposals and successful presentations.
- Strengthen client relationships through professionalism and technical expertise in all client meetings.
- Supervise and support the work of others, mentoring junior-level engineers and design/drafting staff.
- Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
- Travel up to 20% may be required for project meetings, site visits and construction oversight.
- At least 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment and design, including leading design projects and managing multidisciplinary design teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (or related field).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience managing preparation, review, and approval of project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, permit applications, RFIs, and as‑built drawings.
- Excellent client relationship skills and proven track record of delivering engineering projects that meet client expectations.
- Over 15 years of experience in engineering and consulting, focused on the wastewater municipal market.
- Experience in design, permitting and construction of water and wastewater treatment systems, distribution, conveyance, pumping and storage facilities in Florida.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering (or related field).
- Active participation in regional or national professional associations.
