Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for the Hydrologist position is a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional with a strong foundational knowledge of environmental science, regulations, and best practices. They possess a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering, and have a minimum of four years hydrological/hydrogeological experience. They are proficient preparing hydrological/hydro-geological reports for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and have experience in groundwater monitoring and solid waste or underground injection control programs.
They have strong interpersonal skills which enable them to collaborate with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and the public. The ideal candidate is committed to environmental stewardship, continuous learning, and shows initiative in supporting programs related to environmental protection, pollution prevention, and resource conservation. Position serves as technical advisor, senior project coordinator, and manager for hydrological/hydro-geological projects to ensure compliance with accepted hydrological/hydro-geological practices and regulations.
A licensed Professional Geologist or licensed Professional Engineer is preferred.

- Serves as technical advisor, senior project coordinator, and/or manager for hydrological/hydro-geological projects to ensure compliance with accepted hydrological/hydro-geological practices and regulations.
- Develops, implements, and administers the policies, procedures and directives necessary to manage hydrological/hydro-geological projects in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Conducts studies, evaluates, and approves hydrological/hydro-geological groundwater monitoring plans for the siting of land uses including land excavations, mining operations, landfills and public construction projects.
- Performs hydrological/hydro-geological calculations and analyses to ensure compliance with established standards and regulations.
- Prepares hydrological/hydro-geological reports and recommendations for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Investigates and monitors wells, land excavations, and selected construction sites for water and soil quality compliance as defined by federal, state and local regulations.
- Performs environmental audits of sites potentially selected for highway, utility and other construction projects.
- Coordinates the reviews of land use applications to include phosphate mining.
- Assists in preparing, revising and implementing ordinances and Comprehensive Plan policies.
