Lead Tier III Network Security Engineer

Position Overview

The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is looking for a Tier III Network Security Engineer at Mac Dill AFB, FL to support the Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSM‑O II) and the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). This role focuses on new capability requirements and design, system assessments, hands‑on engineering support, and Tier III network operations.

• Provide firewall, routing and switching support with hands‑on experience designing, testing, and implementing IGP, EGP, MPLS, VRF, and NFV/Service Chaining on an enterprise network to meet security, performance, operational, and functional requirements.
• Ensure proper routing protocols are applied to optimize end‑to‑end network performance across LAN, WAN, CAN, SAN, and data centers.
• Assist government stakeholders in identifying design objectives, technical specifications, performance requirements, and interoperability specifications, ensuring system design meets stakeholder requirements.
• Develop, review, and update briefings, papers, or spreadsheets to support network and security tasks.
• Develop and implement firewall/router access rules, NAT policies, VPN technology, 802.1x, and radius protocols within the JCSE enterprise.
• Develop, implement, and support the overall network security architecture for the JCSE enterprise.
• Support development and testing of equipment, including monitoring server/hardware usage and uptime.
• Provide direction in complex problem‑solving situations and engage with internal staff as needed.
• Identify process improvement opportunities for optimal server use, including designing, implementing, and maintaining backup and disaster recovery plans.
• Perform vulnerability and risk analyses of security hardware and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.
• Collaborate with operations, QA, and third‑party data centers to provide technical direction on network topologies, server configurations, hardware/software deployments, firewall configurations, and administrative tasks related to staging and maintenance of company development, testing, and production server and network stacks.

• Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ce, CCNA Security, CySA+).
• CCNP Security or other CCNP certification preferred.
• BS Degree and 4+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent training).
• U.S. citizenship and active Secret clearance required.
